The main difference between a blog and a wiki is the contributor. For instance, a blog is personal, with little collaboration and the posting is owned by the poster. Whereas a wiki can be personal, but is open to collaboration (access via password). Any information can be changed or deleted by anyone.

Positive impacts of ICT on ELT

  • The availability of the learning materials makes ICT very stimulating through images, animation, audio and video clips which can help much more in presenting and practicing new language.
  • ICT can help students to increase their self-confidence and self-esteem when using computer-based instruction.
  •  ICT provides authentic learning and teaching environment. This impact is especially useful for the teachers and students in rural areas where there is a lack of opportunities to communicate with native speakers.
  •  ICT can facilitate different activities such as testing, doing assignments and performing different pedagogical tasks or games.
  • The availability of different rich texts, different topics, quizzes, exercises helps in saving the teachers’ time and compensating for low English proficiency among teachers.
